Local Residents Open FirstLight Home Care Serving West Suburban Boston
NEEDHAM, Mass. (March 16, 2015) — FirstLight Home Care, provider of quality, affordable, non-medical in-home care for adults, has opened its second office in Massachusetts. FirstLight Home Care has over 120 offices across the country, including a recently opened office in Salem which serves the North Shore communities. The new West Suburban Boston office is owned by a father and son team, Needham natives, Michael and Steve Stern.
FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston offers complete companion and personal care services for seniors, new mothers, those recovering from surgery and others in need of assistance. Services include specialized dementia care services, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, driving to doctors’ appointments, personal care and any other services that help the people we serve stay comfortable in their own homes.
FirstLight Home Care will serve residents throughout the west suburban Boston communities, which includes Needham, Wellesley, Newton, Brookline, Medfield, Dover, Westwood, Dedham, Weston, Wayland, Lincoln, Concord and Bedford.
After a successful marketing and management career in the Washington D.C. area, Steve wanted to return home to the Boston area in a role that would allow him to serve the community that provided so much to him and his family.
Opening FirstLight Home Care allows me to give back to the community, to seniors and others in my hometown and surrounding area by offering an important service,” Stern said. “Allowing people to remain independent can have a significant impact on their quality of life.”
Joining Steve is his father, Michael, a retired technology company pioneer from the early days of the Route 128 Corridor. Michael will serve as an advisor while Wendy Adlerstein, a Wellesley native will serve as the director of client care services. For nearly two decades, Adlerstein, a licensed social worker, has served the senior community in a variety of roles.
She has managed programs which provided senior services, conducted in-home assessments and provided guidance to families and individuals on care plans that addressed the needs and safety of seniors. She also has extensive experience working directly with older adults and their families to help them find the right solutions to meet their needs.
“It is inspiring to help people maintain their quality of life, and motivating to see the difference that makes,” Adlerstein said. “It’s great to be able to continue my career with FirstLight Home Care, which shares my values for providing qualified, compassionate care solutions for seniors.”
