Mom and I treasure DC, from the first time DC was in our home looking after my mom, she has been the perfect fit! She is respectful from the minute she walks in the door, and treats Mom with kindness and gentleness. She respects Mom’s age and wisdom and spends time talking with her, letting Mom share stories, and learning from her. She helps Mom accomplish things that she wants to do – thereby giving Mom some independence. We know sometimes elderly people feel like they are a burden on their loved ones – DC helps Mom feel like she isn’t burdening me. She has learned to anticipate Mom’s needs, but always lets Mom tell her the best way to do things. She never expects Mom to conform to anything, but realizes that we’re not going to change the way Mom expects everything to be. She is quiet, but shares nice conversations with Mom. She is always smiling, and always on time. Not everyone does caregiving willingly, and it takes a special person to be as dedicated, compassionate, and thorough as DC is.
