My father lived in a local assisted living community for over six years. During that time we enlisted the services of FirstLight Home Care for extra hands-on help and companionship for Dad. Every caregiver from FirstLight was top-notch in their work ethic, elder care knowledge, their willingness to work with Dad’s family, and especially in their care for Dad. Our most recent caregiver was Jessica, who was with Dad during the last six months of his life. Even though she is younger than most of the caregivers we have worked with, she is extremely intuitive, wise beyond her years, and adept in elder care, having taken care of her own grandparents. My siblings and I could always breathe easy when Jessica was with Dad as we were confident that she had everything under control. She is punctual, conscientious and an invaluable employee and caregiver.

We have had caregivers from FirstLight since the beginning of 2025. My husband has Alzheimer disease and other medical issues. Lori is with us 3 days a week since January. She always has a smiling face and positive attitude. She is compassionate, caring, capable and goes above and beyond our expectations. Jasmari has only been with us a short time but she is also very compassionate and capable. Both have become part of our family. My husband looks forward to them coming. I highly recommend FirstLight. When it became clear that my wife’s illness–the debilitating disease of ALS–would require home caregivers, I began to investigate several companies in the area. Quickly it became clear that First Light was the best possible choice. In early conversations with them I was both impressed and moved by their compassion and the way they saw their clients as people, not cases: people whose stories, life journeys, and personhood they had in view and kept in view, from the first encounter.
Once care was under way, we felt extremely fortunate in the skills of the caregivers and with the warm and kind way they helped us move through the challenges of the day. In a number of cases it is not an exaggeration to say that over time the caregivers became members of the family, and that made the care so rich in personal as well as professional ways.
On many occasions I was particularly grateful for the quickness and nimbleness of administrative response to unforeseen situations that would arise. As our challenges changed, so too did the company’s response, always meeting our needs with care, concern, and understanding, and never phased by the unforeseen.
First Light in general, and our care team in particular, made it possible for my wife to live out her last months at home with comfort and grace. They are wonderful in their skill and dear in their compassion. I am especially grateful that I also know them as friends in the inner family circle. Their presence in our journey through debilitating illness was nothing short of a blessing, day in and day out.
I had a short trip to Cleveland with my mother who has Alzheimer’s. I didn’t have much notice to be able to give to first light but they were beyond responsive and provided us with a really great caregiver. Violet was spectacular. She was caring and engaging with my mom. My mom could not remember her name once Violet left but she kept talking about how nice my friend was and how much fun she had with my friend.
I would definitely recommend First Light for anyone’s elderly parent. Lori engages our mom in exciting activities, has fun conversations, and goes the extra mile to keep us updated with everything that is happening . Lori is a special person who is kind to every single person in the assisted living home. Many people comment on her positivity and bubbly personality . ..including the staff. We are lucky to have Lori there with our mom when we are at work.
Our experience with First Light was wonderful. They accommodated all of our requests with mom’s needs. Our absolute favorite was Sandrine, she was very caring and went above and beyond for mom. She held her hand and prayed with her and mom really loved her as we all did. If you ever need help with your loved one we highly recommend First Light and if Sandrine is available I would jump at the chance to get her help if she is available.
A wonderful company for caregivers and anyone in need of in home care. The owner Ron shows great compassion for his team out in the field and behind the scenes in office. The office works diligently and listens to everyone’s needs, all around one of the best companies to work for.
Ron and his staff have been wonderful to work with over the past two years. Jasmine, my mother’s caretaker has always been on time, great with communication and is truly a kind person. She is also respectful and has been a blessing to have as help in my parent’s home. I wish I could give FirstLight Home Care of NW Cleveland 10 stars. This is a company that offers extraordinary, compassionate and highly professional home health care. My family turned to owner Ron Lund and his team after an extremely negative experience with another home health care company in NW Cleveland. I had no idea there were so many bad actors in this space. I received multiple high reviews from health care professionals to call Ron immediately. We all remain in awe of the level of attention First Light gives our parents. Ron quite literally shows up at their house to make regular site visits and ensure their needs are being addressed. His team is truly remarkable; I think of them as a squadron of angels. Every caregiver that shows up has been a gem — deeply sensitive to my parents’ individual wants and needs, highly professional and good humored. Every single one has told me that they do this work because they find it extremely fulfilling. Their deep commitment shows. When they aren’t managing tasks for my parents, they are busy actually looking for work to do around the house. First Light is also cutting edge technologically, maintaining a user friendly portal that all caregivers use to document each visit and which family members can access. We have interviewed caregivers as to whether they enjoy working for FirstLight and everyone has said the company leadership far exceeds their experiences with other companies. Having never used an agency like this I wasn’t sure what to expect. To say I am pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. I have a caregiver come to my home two mornings a week to care for my companion who is ambulatory but needs to have someone around. I was told by the people at FirstLight that the goal would be that the caregiver would become like a member of the family. That certainly is the case with ours. She arrived, all smiles, and fit right into our situation. With only a minimal amount of guidance as to the care requested, our caregiver knows the routine and mixes it up from one day to the next. I know I can step out of the home knowing that my companion is in good hands. This, alone, has reduced my stress substantially. Thank you, FirstLight, for making this happen.
